Lady Colonels tennis goes on four-game win streak

A tale of “never give up”: Natalie Pickeral, the #1 player for the Lady Colonels, had gone down 7-0 in her singles match against the Appomattox #1. She did not give up, though, but rallied to take nine straight games to win her match 9-7!

The Altavista girls’ varsity tennis team has won their last four games as they enter the final week of the regular season. It started last Monday (May 9) with a home win over a tough Appomattox team, 5-4.

They followed up on that win with a pair of shutouts on the next two days. On Tuesday, they hosted William Campbell and won 9-0, and on Wednesday they traveled to Lovingston and upended the Lady Governors of Nelson County, 9-0.

After that three games in three days stretch, they had off the rest of the week from any more competitions, but they were back at it this Monday (May 16) on home court, defeating the Lady Knights of Buckingham County 8-1.

The Lady Colonels finish out their season this week with a home match against Randolph-Henry on Tuesday and a road match on Thursday at Appomattox.
