The Brookville Bees lost a 30-23 a heartbreaker to Heritage after two overtimes at a sold-out Stinger Stadium on Friday night. Fans would get their money’s worth and then some as the Bees and Pioneers put on a high school football game for the ages. Brookville took a 15-7 lead into the final quarter of play, thanks in part to two touchdown passes by quarterback Drake McDaniel as he connected with receivers Ethan Robey and Addison Ellis for scores on consecutive drives.
Heritage quarterback Kam Burns pulled his team to within 1 with a 12-yard TD scamper. He would then find tight end Terrell Washington for a two-point conversion to tie the game at 15-15 midway through the fourth quarter. The Bees then missed a 29-yard field goal attempt with just under two minutes left to send the game into overtime. After both teams traded touchdowns in the first OT period to make it 23-23, Heritage running back Deuce Crawford scored a go-ahead TD in the second OT frame to seal a thrilling 30-23 win for the Pioneers.
Brookville was led offensively by Drake McDaniel (154 yards passing, 3 TD’s) and running backs Tayshaun Butler and Silas Rucker, who both had 106 yards rushing in the loss.
