The William Campbell varsity basketball team collided with local rival Gretna this past Tuesday night in Naruna with the Generals getting clipped by the Hawks 68-67 in Dogwood District hoops action. Gretna (5-2) overcame an 11-point halftime deficit with a huge third period lead by guard Melvin Wooden who scored a game-high 25 points.

The Generals kept it close right down to end by hitting their free throws, however Gretna was able to hang on and escape for the victory. William Campbell had three players score in double figures led by Tyler Mason (19 points), Elijah Jackson (18 points) and Jacob Halsey (10 points) in the loss.

The Generals had a quick turnaround on Wednesday night as they made the trip to Timberlake Road to face Brookville. The Bees (1-7) picked up their first win of the season by edging the Generals 56-51 in non-district hoops action.

The Generals, who fell to 2-4 on the season with their second consecutive close loss, were led in scoring by Elijah Jackson (15 points) and Tyler Mason (10 points).
