Lady Colonel Chamille Pennix (#22) powers up for the spike in a home game earlier this season.

The Altavista varsity volleyball squad looked to continue their recent success last week as they geared up for two pivotal Dogwood district matchups.

First, they collided with local archrival Gretna, coming away with 3-1 victory (21-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-7) in front of a loud, electric crowd at home in Altavista. The Lady Colonels were led in the victory by Emma Greer (8 kills, 4 blocks), Emma Andrews (4 aces, 8 digs), and Carter Stinnette (7 aces, 3 kills, 3 digs).

Altavista hit the road on Thursday evening (Oct 13) and easily dispatched in-county rivals William Campbell 3-0 (25-1, 25-6, 25-8). Leading the way for the Lady Colonels were Joleigh Bowling (7 aces), Chamille Pennix (3 kills), Aaralyn Bowling (1 ace, 5 kills, 1 block), and Katelyn Grace (2 aces, 18 assists).

The Lady Colonels improve to 9-7 for the season, 7-2 in Dogwood District action. This week, they host the Lady Cavaliers on Thursday (Oct. 20) at home.
