The Altavista girls basketball squad split a pair of non-district matchups this past week on the hardwood. First, they defeated Rustburg 42-33 in front of the home Colonels faithful for the second time this season.

The Lady Colonels (3-4) used a big second quarter to pull away and were led in scoring by Imani Crider (15 points), Dexaria Berger (7 points), Paris Pannell (7 points) and Carter Stinnette (7 points) in the victory.

Altavista hosted Brookville this past Monday night, falling to the Lady Bees 44-38 in another close contest. Brookville (6-4) outscored Altavista (3-5) by nine in the decisive fourth period, led by Ashlynn Stinnett (18 points) and took advantage of the Lady Colonels free throw struggles (2-10) to pull out the win.

Altavista was paced by guard Imani Crider, who poured in a game-high 19 points including a trio of three-pointers and Paris Pannell who added 11 points in the loss.
