Carolyn Elaine Mattox Arnold, age 74 of Hurt died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born January 25 1946, she was a daughter of the late Frank D. Mattox and Ilene Beatrice Miller Mattox. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ella Martin, Margaret King, and Shirley King. Mrs. Arnold retired from the Lane Company after 30 years of service. She was a loving, caring, peaceful person who enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her flowers and plants, and watching Gunsmoke.
She is survived by her husband, Rodger Arnold of the residence; four sons, Johnny Arnold and wife, Chrissy of Forest, Tracy Mattox and wife, Misty of Hurt, Rodger Berry Arnold and wife, Brandy of Altavista and Warren Mattox and wife, Alice of Hurt; one daughter, Tammy Mattox (Randall Wells) of Boonsboro; two brothers, Slick Mattox of Hurt, and Howard Mattox of Hurt; three sisters, Lois Heater and husband, Ben of Altavista, Kathy Mann and husband, Russell of Chatham, and Mary Roach and husband, Jeff of Hurt; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Gretna American Legion from 1 to 5 p.m. All are welcome.
