Three seats were up for election on Altavista’s Town Council in the November 8 General Elections. The only candidates on the ballot were the three incumbents: Tim George, Wayne Mitchell, and Reginald “Reggie” Bennett. The rules state that each voter may vote for up to three candidates, and the top three vote earners win the three seats.

With three of four precincts reporting, Bennett had picked up 683 votes, Mitchell 572, and George 548. Only 60 votes went to write-ins.

The incumbents thus retain their seats on town council for the next four years.
