Altavista, William Campbell, Staunton River start summer baseball mini-league

Following the spring sports season that never was, now that Virginia has entered reopening phase 3, baseball is back in Altavista. Altavista, William Campbell, and Staunton River High Schools will be playing a 15-game baseball series this summer, with each team playing 10 games.

All games will take place at Altavista’s War Memorial Park, starting at 6:30 p.m. They will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Fridays. The first game, pitting the Generals against the Golden Eagles, took place yesterday (Tues., July 7), and the mini-season runs through August 14. The Colonels get into the action on Thurs., July 9 against William Campbell.
