On Wednesday, May 8, the William Campbell Generals baseball team paid a visit to Appomat-tox County High School, resulting in a 10-5 win for the Raiders. Tristan Lovins and Ja-cob Johnson had the big bats for the Raiders, driv-ing in three runs each. Lovins had the only extra base hit of the game with a double. William Campbell man-aged only four hits in the game but drew five walks off of Raider pitchers Johnson and Alex Reid. With Eric Hanson on the mound for the Gener-als, Appomattox jumped out to a commanding four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning. Luke Olimpio got things started with a single to right field and was replaced by pinch runner Gaither Comeau. Lovins doubled on a line drive to center field, al-lowing Comeau to score the first run of the game. Lovins then advanced to third base on a single to left field by Conner Pat-terson and scored on an in-field grounder by Johnson that resulted in a throwing error to first base by third baseman Randolph Crab-tree. Johnson headed to second base and Patterson landed on third. Hunter Franklin replaced Johnson as a pinch runner.
