The Laidback Golf Tours Second Major of the 2019 season which was held recently at Olde Mill Golf Resort was very similar to the event held here in 2018. Both times
the size of the group was about the same: twenty-five in 2018 and twenty-six this time. Both days the weather was overcast with mid 70-degree temperatures. In 2018
the fifty-year-old Ellis Maples course gave up three rounds in the seventies and twenty birdies to the field while this year it only gave up one round under 80 and eighteen birdies. There were no repeat winners from the 2018 event and three of the four flights saw first time winners for the 2019 season emerge today. Even though the course is quite challenging it is always a favorite as there is not a hole on the course which is not breathtakingly beautiful.
The A Flight was won by Steve Williams who turned in the only round under eighty
that day with his round of 79. Williams carded one birdie to help him pick up his first win of the season. Finishing next in the flight was Fran Hensley at 81 for her fifth second place finish this season. Jeff Shumate claimed the flights low net prize by posting a net 71 in his first tournament in A Flight.
