Myron Vaden Reid, 95, of Hurt, went on to his eternal home on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, in Mechanicsville.
He was the husband of the late Emma Sandridge Dowdy Reid.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Hugh Reid and Roena "Lovey" Ethel Agnor Reid; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Stevie Taylor; and two brothers, Weldon Reid and Ronald Reid.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Buena Vista, served his country as a member of the United States Army in World War II, was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, and retired from the Maintenance Department at the Virginia United Methodist Children’s Home in Richmond.
He is survived by five children, Priscilla Bryant, Mary Barzoloski (Larry), David Reid (Barbara), Daniel Reid, and Mark Reid (Glenna); one brother, Lester Reid; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista, by the Rev. Latta Terry and Wyatt Miles with interment to follow at 2 p.m. in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
