Robert Wayne Dalton, 62, of Hurt died Sunday, March 1, 2020, at his residence.
Born July 18, 1957, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Gus Mays Dalton and Dolly Vivian Reynolds Dalton. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Dalton; and a brother-in-law, J. Fred Smith. He was an employee of BGF Industries. Robert was a big Dale Earnhardt fan; and he loved camping, fishing, sitting on the front porch drinking a cold one and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by four daughters, Jessica Moreland of Hurt, Jennifer Dalton of Madison Heights, Jillian Dalton of Milton, Fla., and Julia Dalton of Roanoke; one son, Jonathan Dalton of Peoria, Ill.; one brother, Barry Dalton and wife, Shelby, of Gretna; three sisters, Joan Cooper and husband, Ron, of Altavista, Janice Smith of Grit, and Donna Dalton of Hurt; and seven grandchildren, Jada Rowland, Jolie Rowland, Jaxsan Calloway, Jamison Calloway, Jaycee Moreland, Jaden Mays and Juliana Dalton.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5 at New Bethel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jason Andrews and Pastor Steve Morris. Burial will follow at the Bruce Family Cemetery, Rowland Drive, Hurt.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence, 603 High St., Hurt.
