Joyce Fay Brumfield Dalton, 78, of 216 Longview Rd., Hurt died Friday, September 11, 2020, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth Leon Dalton and a dedicated servant and follower of her Heavenly Father.

She was born April 8, 1942, in Gretna, a daughter of the late Albert Clyde Brumfield and Ruth Vassar Brumfield.  She was a member, the first female Deacon, and Sunday School Director of New Prospect Baptist Church and a bus driver for Pittsylvania County Schools for forty years.  Fay also enjoyed working and exercising at Curves.

She is survived by a son, Steven Dalton and his wife, Susan of Altavista; a daughter, Angela Dalton Francis and her husband, Ronald of St. Albans, WV; three siblings, Gladys B. Ward and her husband, Addison of Hurt, Marvin Brumfield and his wife, Rebecca of Hurt, and Eliza Adams and her fiance′, John Cassell of Gretna; a sister-in-law, Louise Brumfield of Gretna; four grandchildren, Lauren Dalton Harris and her husband, Troy, Kristy Francis Howard and her husband, Nicholas, Katlyn Dalton, and Madison Dalton; two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Lincoln Harris; and special friends, The Pep Girls.

She was preceded in death by four siblings, Hazel B. Dolan, Avis Brumfield, Edgar San Brumfield, and Morris Dalton; and her best friend, Carolyn Moon.

A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2020, at New Prospect Baptist Church by the Rev. Brady Willis and the Rev. Bob Reese with interment following in the church cemetery.

The family received friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
