Donald Gray Burton, Jr., 60, of 156 Doss Street, Altavista died Monday, December 30, 2019 at VCU Health Care in Richmond. He was the husband of June Kennedy Burton for over thirty-five years.
He was born October 27, 1959 in Lynchburg, a son of Terresia Leonard Burton of Altavista and the late Donald Gray Burton, Sr. He was a retired employee for the Town of Altavista, a long-standing member and Legion Member of the Altavista Moose Lodge #1433. In addition to his family, Donald loved golfing.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Christopher Andrews and his wife, Erika of Forest; one daughter, Stephanie Knight and her husband, Shawn of Newport News; and four grandchildren, Abbigail, Taylor, Logan and Kolton.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Burton Prior and Susie Burton Myer and one niece, Millicent Tucker Lewis.
A graveside service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2020, at Green Hill Cemetery, Altavista by the Rev. Bobby Brumfield.
The family received friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Saturday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider donating blood to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choice.
