Robert and Sally Pate’s new business, Cyclin' Nutz, opened with a ribbon cutting on December 3. Leadership from First National Bank brought in a festive, large blue ribbon to be cut. Cyclin' Nutz is at 508 Pittsylvania Avenue, between Scoops and Staunton River Outdoors. Robert Pate “has wanted to go into business for a very long time.” The owners are excited to be about 100 feet from the entrance to English Park.
Cyclin’ Nutz rents bicycles as well as selling and repairing them. It’s possible to rent a bicycle for an excursion in the park. For example, the cost for renting an adult bike for two hours is $15 and for children $10. The store sells Schwinn bikes for all ages, starting with bikes for toddlers. These special bikes for toddlers come with no pedals; they’re designed to help toddlers develop balance, and toddlers push themselves along with their legs and feet. The purchase price for a toddler bike is $65.
Lori Johnson, President of the Board of Altavista on Track and KD Country employee, attended the ribbon cutting. She was enthusiastic about Cyclin’ Nuts. She said, “It’s always nice to see local businesses investing here. Shop, explore, and dine in Altavista!
