Pittsylvania County Parks and Recreation has been awarded two large grants for the renovation of Wayside Park in the northern part of the county just outside the Town of Hurt. Danville Regional Foundation (DRF) has awarded a $306,540 grant and J. T. – Minnie Maude Charitable Trust has awarded a $100,000 grant. Both grants will be paid out over the next two years. These grants are part of the $713,000 park renovation project of which $563,000 has been obtained in grant funding to make the renovation a reality. Other grants include the Virginia Outdoors Foundation and GameTime Playgrounds. Pittsylvania County has also committed $150,000 to the project.
