One of Altavista’s favorite events is scheduled for Good Friday, April 19, 2019. The 32nd Annual Altavista Community Special Needs Egg Hunt will be held at the Booker Building in English Park from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The event held for challenged and special needs individuals in the area is always tons of fun with live music, thousands of eggs, candies, and prizes. Hot dogs and drinks will be served at 11 a.m.
This special event was founded by Joyce Anderson Harrison over 30 years ago and is now sponsored by the Altavista Rotary Club and spearheaded by Steve Farmer, chair, and Kay Boelte of KB Bookkeeping and Tax Service.
More than 9,000 pieces of candy and 2,000 stuffed eggs will be scattered across the yard behind the Booker Building for the happy participants. In recent years, the event has drawn upwards of 150 participants and 40-50 volunteers.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the individuals and organizations who have so generously given of their time and resources to make this event possible.
