Gladys youth playing soccer all over the world

Dillon Rice, an 11-year-old soccer player from Gladys, has already played in Barcelona Spain and currently has an informal invitation to travel to the United Kingdom to play next year! Dedicated to soccer since he was four years old, Dillon has continued to chase his dream in every way he can. Starting out, he played locally for the YMCA and then at CVU, Central Virginia United, in Rustburg for several years before moving on to VBR Star in Roanoke.

VBR Star Soccer Club’s website says that it began in 1986 with the aim to become the premier youth soccer club in the Roanoke Valley. Over the course of the past 29 years, it has grown to serve over 800 kids and 52 travel teams, competing in one of the top youth soccer leagues on the east coast, the Club Champions League (CCL).
