An accident involving an overturned car on Highway 29 in Gretna on Wednesday called helicopters to the scene, state police say. 


According to the Virginia State Police, troopers were called to the scene of a single overturned car blocking the highway near the 33100 block of southbound Highway 29 in Gretna at 4:59 p.m. Wednesday.


Reportedly, one passenger was entrapped in the car and a 1-year-old passenger was conscious when the troopers arrived. 


State police confirmed that helicopters were called to the scene. Normally helicopters are deployed to airlift injured people to distant hospitals. The state police could not confirm who was airlifted, and could not confirm the condition of the driver or other passengers. 


The crash remains under investigation.
