A string of robberies have been occurring in the area lately. Add Brookneal to the list following a broken door at Kwik Cash June 28.

Brookneal Police Chief Ricky Baldwin says that he received a call from Kwik Cash, 1313 Brookneal Highway, to report that on the night before, someone had thrown concrete at a glass door in an attempt to break it. There was breakage, but entry was not gained.

On July 8, owner/operator Sheryl Parker said that a piece of concrete about the size of a bowling bowl and one other piece had been thrown more than once to break the door. “This type of glass shatters, but doesn’t break into pieces. They tried the same thing with the window, but only succeeded in chipping that glass.”

She doesn’t know if someone brought the concrete with them of if they picked it up along the train tracks or woods behind the lodge.
