Virginia State Police Trooper B.J. Uttley is investigating a two-vehicle

fatal crash in Campbell County. The crash occurred Aug. 19, 2019 at 2:30

p.m. at the intersection of Route 501 and Eastbrook Road.

A 2000 Toyota Camry was westbound on Eastbrook Road when it failed to stop

for the posted stop sign and entered the intersection at Route 501. The

Camry traveled into the northbound lanes of Route 501 where it was struck

by a northbound 1996 Volvo 960. The Volvo was unable to avoid striking the

Camry.

The driver of the Camry, Roy R. McDonaldson, 80, of Lynchburg, Va., died at

the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Volvo, Glenn Lomax, 59, of Madison Heights, Va., was not

injured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt.

At this stage of the investigation, it appears a medical emergency may have

been a factor in the cause of the crash. The crash remains under

investigation.
