Public Hearing set to change boundary line

A public hearing concerning a boundary line adjustment and property transfer between Altavista and Campbell County will be held at the August 6 Campbell County Board of Supervisors meeting in Rustburg.

For more than a year, Altavista has been interested in a boundary line adjustment to let it absorb the 50-acre business park at the Dearing Ford Business and Manufacturing Center (that belongs to Campbell County) into the town for future industrial development.

If approved, the boundary adjustment would transfer all ownership of the property (currently assessed at $389,300) to Altavista. The town would then be responsible for primary marketing and maintenance responsibilities for the site including the entire undeveloped property.
