Altavista Woman found guilty of murdering husband

UPDATE: Kimberly Barksdale received life in prison plus three years sentence Thursday for killing her husband, Todd in 2016.

Kimberly Mayhew Barksdale, 52, of Altavista was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder of her husband and convicted of using a firearm in a felony.

Law enforcement was called to the couple’s home November 18, 2016, and found Todd Barksdale slumped over a fence with a bullet wound behind his left ear.

Two-day jury trial testimonies showed a turbulent history of arguments and tension between the two in the month before the shooting.

More evidence will be heard by the jury this afternoon before they recommend a sentence for Barksdale. She could face up to life in prison.
