Scarecrow Stroll Application

Applications are available at town hall or at www.altavistaontrack.net.

Fall is finally here! Little by little as the temperature continues to drop, you will start to notice people drinking seasonal pumpkin flavored drinks, sporting a cozy sweater, leaves beginning to change… and scarecrows. Altavista On Track, a nonprofit organization devoted to downtown revitalization, hosts the Scarecrow Stroll every fall. The concept for the Scarecrow Stoll was invented to bring more foot traffic downtown, create a family fun event, and give exposure to local businesses; every year, the Scarecrow Stroll remains a fall favorite.

If you are a business owner or resident who would like to enter a scarecrow in this year’s stroll, you can apply online or download a paper application at www.altavistaontrack.net.  You can also pick up an application at Town Hall.

Three ballot boxes will be placed in the community: Altavista Town Hall, the Altavista Library, and Main Street Café. There will also be a way to vote online. Everyone is invited to vote for their favorite scarecrow. We will also have a Facebook contest for the most shared and liked photo of Altavista residents and visitors with their favorite scarecrow each full week in October.  Check out the AOT Facebook page for more info on how to participate and win.

Scarecrow applications need to be submitted by September 30th, 2020 and scarecrows must be set up by October 2nd.  Then voting will commence!  This year’s Scarecrow Stroll Winner will receive a fun scarecrow trophy, recognition in the Altavista Journal, and lots of social media love!

The Scarecrow Stroll will run from October 2nd-November 1st, and Altavista On Track invites the community and visitors to stroll through downtown, shop, dine, and hunt for scarecrows. For more updated information and photos of the scarecrows, follow Altavista On Track on Facebook.
