The Altavista Police Department recently issued the following press release:
On July 26, 2020, at approximately 10:22 pm, APD received a complaint of shots fired in the area of Rail Line Dr in the town of Altavista. Upon investigation of the incident, it was determined that an individual had discharged a firearm in the vicinity. A search warrant was applied for and issued for a residence on Express Line Dr. Two weapons were seized from the residence.
As a result of the investigation, Gregory Bryce Worley, 24, of Altavista was charged with the following: Willfully discharge or cause to be discharged a firearm in any street in this town in violation of town code 46-184, Recklessly handle a firearm in violation of state code 18.2-56.1 and Brandishing a firearm within 1000 feet of a school ( felony) in violation of 18.2-282. Worley was arrested by APD on 7-30-2020 and taken before a magistrate who released him on an unsecured bond.
The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office assisted Altavista PD with this case.
